1.Pick Strawberries at Red Berry Farm (George)

Pick your own strawberries at Red Berry Farm in George! You can pick strawberries, eat them, drink them all day long, while enjoying the wonderful and playful atmosphere of the Tea Garden where so many exciting group tours, birthday parties and sit down lunches and teas are enjoyed. The Red Berry Farm is situated just outside George on the road going towards Blanco. The farm lies in a spectacular setting with views of the majestic Outeniqua mountains.

2.    Silver Lily Dutch Farm Cheese

Situated on the Geelhoutboom Road on the rural outskirts of George, easily accessible from all main roads, Silver Lily Cheese Farm invites you on an aromatic cheese tasting adventure.   Enjoy handmade Dutch style farm cheese (10 flavours), watch the interesting process of cheese making then sample some in the form of a cheese platter lunch accompanied by a glass of wine or fruit juice in the tranquil surroundings of the Outeniqua Mountains.

3. Wine Tasting & Cellar Tour at Herold Wines

Just beyond the top of the historic Montagu Pass, which winds its way up the mountains above George, lie the vineyards and cellar of Herold Wines. Visit for wine tasting, beautiful views and a cellar tour.

4. Wild Oats Community Farmers Market (Sedgefield)

Over 60 stalls of the finest local farm produce, homebakes, plants and flowers, outdoor breakfast and live music – no matter what the weather does. An authentic taste of the Garden Route – fresh produce and goods every Saturday. It’s the one under the trees!

 5. Take a Ride on a Choo Choo Train (George, Mossel Bay)

One of the top attractions on the entire Garden Route, the Outeniqua Choo-Choo Steam Train provides some of the best views of the Garden Route coastline and hidden valleys inaccessible by car.  Grab a window seat, the views really are quite spectacular!

6. Paraglide with Cloudbase Paragliding (Wilderness)

Cloudbase Paragliding offer paragliding tuition, license courses, powered paragliding tuition, tours, and equipment sales and rental.

8. Bloukrans Bridge Bungy Jump (Tsitsikamma) 

Situated along the Garden Route at the Tsitsikamma Forest Village Market, just 40km east of Plettenberg Bay along the N2 Highway you will find the highest single span arch bridge in the world. You can experience the thrill for yourself!

The ultimate thrill, the Bloukrans Bridge is the highest commercially operated Bungy Jump in the world. We secure you in a full body harness and proceed to walk along a specially designed catwalk (216m long), which is suspended beneath the road surface, which will then lead you to the top of the arch – 216 meters above the Bloukrans River. Here you will be given final instructions by highly experienced staff, a countdown and off you go!

9. Kitesurfing in the Garden of Eden (Sedgefield)

10. Tsitsikamma Canopy Tours (Storms River)

The adventure commences with a thorough briefing explaining safety and the provided equipment. Suitable for ages 7 – 70, weighing up to 120kg (no pregnant woman allowed) this activity is a gentle glide across ten cabled slides to ten wooden platforms built high up in the trees. These lookout decks provide a resting place for you to breathe in the dense greenery and stand in awe of the view. Giant ferns grow below your feet while water streams loop the massive trunks. Your guide will educate you on the ecosystem and its rare ecology from 30 meters above the forest floor. This fantasy forest flight fills three hours with magnificent swinging scenery and will be one of the most memorable experiences in a year that contributes another ring to your tree of life.

 11. Skydive in Mossel Bay (Mossel Bay)

Skydive Mossel Bay offers you the experience of a lifetime! Do a tandem skydive from 10 000ft strapped to an experienced tandem instructor and enjoy the thrill of free fall on your 1st jump! No experience required.

After a short briefing we strap you into a tandem harness and you are ready start your adventure. 1st, we ascent to altitude in the aircraft and for 20 minutes you get a fantastic scenic flight over the bay area. Then it’s time to jump out! Before you know it, the tandem master has you out of the aircraft and in free fall. We’ll free fall at 200 – 290 kph for up to 40 seconds. While we “Body Surf” the wind, we can do controlled turns, speed diving, and burn up the sky.

 12. Abseiling in the Kaaimans Gorge (Wilderness)

The serene Kaaimans Gorge holds one of the most beautiful abseil sights you will find. You have a chance to do two 45m abseils right next to a magnificent waterfall. The first abseil is an easy one to get you used to the idea of trusting the ropes and the second one is slightly more technical, however just as exhilarating.

What also makes this sight special is that you land in a canoe at the bottom. You need not have abseiled before, however it is not for the faint-hearted! It is also important to remember not to wear slippery shoes.

 13. Cango Caves Tours (Oudtshoorn)

The Cango Caves are a series of dripstone caverns that open into vast halls of towering stalagmite formations with names like ‘the bridal couple’, ‘glass flower fantasy’, ‘weird cango candle’ and ‘the hanging shawl’.

Not all of the caves are open to the public – there is more than one section to the caves that took millions of years to form one of the world’s great natural wonders – but the main sections are available for amazing exploratory subterranean walks that include fumbling around on all fours in an effort to see all that is viewable.

14. Ride an Ostrich at Ostrich Show Farm (Oudtshoorn)

To ride an Ostrich, visit one of the Ostrich Show Farms in Oudtshoorn, South Africa. Here you can observe large flocks of Ostriches at different stages of development. There are petting areas where you can cuddle the chicks or feed an ostrich by hand, watch how feather dusters and boas are made. Professional multilingual guides take you on a conducted tour where you will learn about the birds surrounded by thousands of ostriches. Visit the Restaurant where you can try an Ostrich Steak or the Ostrich egg (which feeds 20 people), can be tasted together with Ostrich Paté and Biltong.

You can also visit the shop on site and purchase exclusive leather handbags and feather boas and a variety of decorated and plain Ostrich eggshells, Ostrich paté’s and biltong (traditional dried meat) and other delicatessen are available at these shops.

And then if you feel really brave you can try to sit on an ostrich or you can actually try to ride an ostrich (at your own risk!)

15. Hold a Cub (Oudtshoorn)

This sanctuary to Africa’s endangered cats is preserved in the Karoo’s picturesque town of Oudtshoorn. Here seeing and feeling the cats and their cubs promotes awareness of their plight and population threat.

Holding and touching Cheetah and Tiger cubs is a moving experience for human ‘cubs’ and adults. Full grown Cheetah and Tiger encounters are a privileged interaction for visitors 16 years and older as observation of the animals has surveyed a different response from these full grown cats to children. All funds raised from these encounters are used in the breeding and conservation program.

16. Picnic amongst the Elephants (Little Brak)

Enjoy a picnic in tranquil settings and relax amongst these extraordinary Elephants. A variety of snacks and sparkling wine is served and after this feast you can feed the Elephants.

17. Drumming Experience – Find Your Rhythm (Knysna)

Find your rhythm to the beat of your own drum. Stomp your feet in ‘rain boots’ like a traditional African dancer and learn the Gumboot Dance. Create dynamic music by simple clapping in groups or boom-whacking on a brightly coloured plastic tube used in African music. These non-verbal communication experiences are social, therapeutic and a great deal of fun!

These are interactive African celebrations which both children and the usually hard of hearing can find joy in. Hosted at a Drum Café venue any individual or group can add their beat or a private group celebration at your own venue can be arranged. Throw a ‘Shebeen’ (unofficial local liquor outlet) themed party and get the gang highly energised to the drums hums or sit back and enjoy a professional staged performance at a showcase production.  18. Fishing at Botlierskop Game Reserve (Little Brak)

Try your hand at fishing with an experienced guide or ask your guide to arrange a fishing rod and tackle. Species you are likely to catch are Carp, Large mouth Bas, Blue Kurper and Fresh water eels. Strictly Catch and release! For those who would prefer to relax, there is an informative river cruise where guests can savour the moment. Various bird species could be seen such as Blue Crane, Fish Eagle, Egyption Geese and a wide variey of duck species and if you are really lucky you will see the Cape Clawless Otter feeding in the river.

20. Scenic introductory flight lesson (Mossel Bay)

Ever thought about learning to fly an aeroplane? For those who first want to experience the magic of flight before committing to training, introductory flights are offered by Springbok Aviation in Mossel Bay.
The Garden Route coast line with viewing of whales, dolphins and great white sharks makes this an unforgettable experience.
